Crusty White Bread Mix Review – The Baking Duck

Crusty White Bread Mix Review

Two things I have found difficult to get hold of lately is yeast and strong bread flour. I did manage to get hold of a white bread mix that you just add water to.

A way to get yummy fresh bread without having to put lots of effort in to do it. The design on the front of the packet shows a nice crusty white loaf. Tells you on the front of the packet to just add water.

On the back of the packet it lays out the instructions on how to make the bread and gives instruction on how to hand bake and how to make this in a bread machine. The preparation time on the top for preparation is accurate and it does take about 20 minutes to prep.

The first step is simple just add the flour and water to the bowl. I used a mixer with a bread hook to mix the mixture all together. It states to mix for 5 minutes and it is all mixed together nicely and you end up with a good dough.

The steps are so clear and give you all the timings you need for each part of the preparation. The dough does feel slightly sticky when you go to knead it and I had to keep adding flour to my hands to stop it from sticking to them.

On step four it says to add flour to top then cover with damp cloth. I thought this was a little odd because if the flour is to be baked when added to the oven then adding it then laying on a damp cloth where the flour will stick to does seem a bit backwards to me.

Once the bread has baked, the packet does not tell you how to check the bread is fully baked on the inside which I think would be helpful.

I do recommend this bread mix, you end up with these super crusty bread which tastes amazing. It is a super quick recipe and within an 1 hour 30 minutes you have fresh bread to enjoy.
